For longer than I care to admin, I've been saying to myself, "one day, I'm going to get that personal blog sit sorted", and that's kind of as far as I got for a long time.

It finally got to a point where I thought, enough is enough, just build something and go from there. I knew the CMS of choice for me was going to be Umbraco, but one of the bigger internal struggles I was having was whether to build something from scratch, or start from one of the many fantastic starter kits that are available.

Over the years, as I'm sure many other developers have, I have my build own "starter kit" that I tend to use for my projects. It's often changing, adapting and improving with the times, and my needs, and ultimately I decided to start from there.

If it a fully featured as some of the available pre-build solutions? Definitely not!

Will it probably be more work? Yup

Will it give me more opportunities to play around discover and write about the growth of this site? Hopefully.

So here it is, the beginning of my website. I have no idea where I'll take it, but I'm really happy to be starting the journey.

This website will forever be a work in progress, and for good reason. If I ever get to a point where I think it's "done", then I might as well look for another profession 😄.
